Description

The beetle itself is a small brown-black flying insect less than an inch (2.5 cm) in length at maturity. It has two long reddish antennae. Two to three stripes run the length of the wing cover. Eggs are very small and greenish white. The larvae are yellowish white, at maturity reaching a length of only about an inch (2.5 cm). It can be difficult to distinguish the brown spruce longhorn beetle from similar small flying beetles.
